a rock performance.

Sometimes high expectations can ruin a good thing. I think he sang well. Yes, perhaps not as well as previous weeks, but certainly not horrible. And this article is clearly biased. To tell you the truth I don't really understand the whole this person is a 'true rocker' and this person isn't. How about they sing what they like and that's it? I really wish people would quit trying to classify and put labels on everything and everyone. It's annoying. And David Cook didn't label himself as the 'resident rocker.' Everyone else did that. So what really constitutes as 'credible rock performances'? How is that classified? Because I sure would like to know! (Not that it would really matter, because I like a song because it sounds good, not because it fits into a specific genre).
