If you follow American Idol like I do, you know the judges watch the dress rehearsals before the actual living airing on Tuesday nights. Here's an article on what it's like to watch from the audience.
So why is it such a big deal that Paula made a mistake the other night? Who cares? I think this sums up our priorities. "It was so unexpected. It was something that took up 2 seconds of airtime. You'd think there was no other news on television." Seriously.
However, this brings me to my second problem. Last week I was in a good mood, the day was going great, and then I turned on the news. The first five stories they broadcast were about someone dying, being killed, or getting hit by a tornado. Well, that was the end of the good feelings. Which is why I usually read the news instead of watching it. This is also why when I watch TV, I want to see stuff that makes me feel good, not bad. It's an escape. A little box in my living room that brings me happiness, compassion (damn you Oprah and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition), and anything else that I don't get other places during my daily life. What are others doing out there? What stories have they found? What kind of lives are they living? It's curiosity (because I love stories) and it's information (have you ever watched The Dog Whisperer or Human Body: Pushing the Limits?).
Wow...this is all I can really say. Someone wrote an article on the most memorable movie drunks. Sigh. I'll save my annoyances with drunk people speech for another day.
